The project will will build on Agricultural Biotechnology Support Project II (ABSP II)\u2019s efforts of initial commercialization of Bt eggplant in Bangladesh<\/p>\n<p><b>Project Duration:<\/b> 2015-2018\u00a0 <b>Awarding Organization <\/b>\u2013 United States Aid for International Development<\/p>\n<p><b>Project Value: <\/b>USD 4.8 Million<b> Geography<\/b>: \u2013 Bangladesh and Philipines[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Objectives&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1461562586244-79582991-5542&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To provide post-commercial support in Bangladesh for Insect resistance management (IRM),Environmental Safety studies,Stewardship best Proactices, Seed commercialization plan and communication activities<\/li>\n<li>To Build institutional and human capacity in Bangladesh to carry out responsible product stewardship, monitor and evaluate post-release impact, strengthen existing extension systems, promote science-based public awareness of genetically modified crops<\/li>\n<li>To provide support to Philippines to develop, submit and shepherd through approval of a Regulatory Dossier, commercial release of UPLB Bt eggplants<\/li>\n<li>To build capacity for release of Bt eggplant and conduct public consultation and pro-active outreach and communication activities in Philippines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Anticipated&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1479965891044-50decc0e-a260&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improved incomes for farmers and their families through lower input costs, better yields, lower<br \/>\npost-harvest losses, and increased value of agricultural products;<\/li>\n<li>Greater environmental and health benefits owing to safer products for consumers and farm workers, largely due to reduced pesticide use;<\/li>\n<li>Improved agricultural product development capacity for key institutions that collaborate with FtFBP<\/li>\n<li>Increased understanding by local scientists of markets, regulatory environments, intellectual property (IP) issues, and other commercialization components for GE crops;<\/li>\n<li>Enhanced communication of science-based information about GE crops<\/li>\n<li>Increased consumer acceptance of GE crops, intended to help address public food needs and food security;<\/li>\n<li>Improved access to higher quality eggplant that is safe and nutritious;<\/li>\n<li>Advancement
