Bringing Employees Together, the Sathguru Way!

Sathguru Management Consultants recently conducted its annual painting competition for both employees and their families, as part of the internal communication activities.

Our Sathguru family comprises of the staff, their spouses and their children, who had the opportunity recently to unleash their imagination and freeze it on canvas in a riot of colours. The annual Sathguru Painting Competition saw increased enthusiasm as the participants, young and adult attempted to transcribe their ideas onto canvas through the language of colour and form. Pencils, charcoal, crayons, pastels, paints and, in one case, even glitter glue was used by the artists to vibrantly express their ideas.

While the staff at Sathguru was provided with a specific theme, "Journey" to work on, the spouses and children were allowed to work out their own ideas. Adults were provided with canvas sheets and so it became apparent that these sheets weren't meant for random doodling and some serious thought and effort was expressed. The medium also allowed the artists to indulge in a certain amount of abstraction and challenged their creative trait.

This made the job of the judges more difficult as they tried to delve into the mind of the artists through their art. The kids had a field day just enjoying themselves painting their dreams. With no self imposed compulsion or agenda to conform to lines, form or conventions of colour, they decided to just draw what they felt and saw, in their tiny minds. There was a predominance of houses and cars with red skies, blue earths and pink suns. Creations that made the creators happy and the laughter in their minds and eyes reflected in their work. One could not help but feel happy just looking at the worlds of their imagination.

Overall, a great day for all participants, as adults merged the experience and skills of age with the joys of childhood, while the children did what they enjoyed the most. Some children were actually seen providing material and expertise to older people freely, without any qualms. In the end, while all the works were beautiful in their own way, some stood out. The ones that deserved extra appreciation and recognition won the contest.

In the employees category it was Ajay, Lakshman and Praveen M who won the first, second and third place respectively. Mrs. Bharathi bagged the prize in the spouse’s category. In the children’s category, Sri Priya, daughter of Ramesh D, won the first place; Sridhar son of Sri Ram Murthy the second and the third place was taken by two participants Ishaan and Prabhas, sons of Susheel and Prasad Babu respectively.
