Glenn M. Young:

Prof. Young’s team researches the significance of food borne pathogens that Scause diseases in humans and how these pathogens survive in the environment. Active projects in the laboratory focus on molecular biology, genetics and physiology of diverse pathogenic bacteria including Escherichia coli, Salmonella species, Yersinia species, Listeria monocytogenes, Bacillus species and others.
Bala Swaminathan

Swami is engaged in providing consultation and project management assistance in the areas of public health, food safety and information technology. He has more than 30 years of management experience in institutions of higher learning as well as with the federal government, particularly with the Centre for Disease Control, Atlanta, GA. He is nationally and internationally recognized as an expert in laboratory aspects of infectious diseases and food safety.
Randy W. Worobo
Positions
- Associate Professor of food microbiology, Department of Food Science and Technology, Cornell University
The principal objective of his research is to develop alternate approaches to enhance the safety and quality of food, with special focus on fruits and vegetables. Prof. Worobo’s basic research focuses on the genetic and chemical characterization of antimicrobial proteins produced by bacteria that target food borne pathogens and food spoilage microorganisms. His extension program focuses on fruit and vegetable safety with special emphasis on HACCP, GAP and sanitation.
Syed Rizvi
Positions
- International Professor of Food Science and Professor of Food Process Engineering at the Department of Food Science at CALS, Cornell University.
He focuses his research on experimental and theoretical aspects of bio-separation processes, extrusion, physical and engineering properties of biomaterials and other novel food processing technologies. Derivative goals include new techniques for measurement and control of processes and properties for industrial applications.
K. Vijayaraghavan

Vijay has years of experience on the convergence of scientific and management best practices that have evolved over the years in the production of safe agricultural and processed food products. Vijay provides consultancy to global food industries and investment bodies on appropriate technologies and is a recognized technology licensor. Globally, he has been involved in capacity building for food regulators and food industry stakeholders. He is associated with Cornell University in several of its life sciences related strategic initiatives. |
