When Brawns mattered

For the first time in Sathguru it was not the minds that were challenged to complete a task and muscle took centre stage. The Arm Wrestling Mania 2010 was held at Sathguru for all the employees.

While men grabbed the opportunity to show off their might, the women decided they were not going to be left behind and joined the fray with a cry of  “Hum Mein Bhi Dum Hai!” (We too have it in us).

The competition took off on a very aggressive yet festive note with lots of cheering that had the strength of a hundred vevuzelas. Onlookers spontaneously picked sides for each match as participants locked arms and gave it all they had.

Some like Mr. Prem Kumar provided entertainment as he laughed and indulged in conversation as he kept bringing down his opponents. However, the champion of the men’s competition, Chiranth, simply smiled his way through each round and smoothly took away the title. In the finals he faced Dr. Suresh who, with his training in boxing during his youth, was able to make Chiranth sweat it out a bit before going down under his opponent’s greater strength.

The girls also had some aggressive players like Visha and Kalpana who put up a brave fight. In the end it was a match of equals between Manisha and Deborah, with the former clinching the title with a break in the last few moments.

Definitely an event well organized and welcomed by all employees that all of Sathguru will be looking forward to next year when there will definitely be greater enthusiasm and fanfare.
