ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATIONS AT SATHGURU
 |
On 21 November, 2009 an otherwise lazy Saturday was charged with great energy and excitement. It began with a promise of being a great day. And guess what, it delivered. After days of gray, cloudy wet weather, Saturday morning began nice and sunny with blue skies and faint picturesque streaks of clouds. One could almost expect an artist at some street corner painting the scenery. The artists were absent, but the staff of Sathguru along with their family gathered at the office premises determined to enjoy the day. The Sathguru Annual Day 2009 kicked off to a great start. Soon everyone was on their way to Pragati Resorts, far from the madding crowd. Fun and games began in the bus itself with impromptu games of antakshari. The beautiful laid out resort looked inviting with lush green landscaped gardens, expansive swimming pool, lovely cottages and other architectural wonders. In a relaxed mode of enjoying the beauties of nature, everybody had a whale of a time.

Some time in the afternoon, everyone gathered for lunch and while some returned to the pool, others decided to put in some rehearsals for the variety entertainment programmes. Mrs. Hemalatha and Rajnish gathered all the tiny tots and ran them through a quick rehearsal for a fashion show. Then some quick rehearsals for the main fashion show event and everyone began to get ready for the evening’s platter of entertaining events. With Ajay and M. Praveen compeering, the show kicked off with a scintillating solo dance performance by Sadwika, daughter of Lakshman from Accounts. Mrs Deepa Chandrasekhar then sang a Telugu song rendered beautifully despite the fact that she was unfamiliar with the language. The MCD team then performed a dynamic dance performance to a medley of songs incorporating styles from different eras of Indian cinema. Lakshman’s son Saiteja then gave a short mimicry performance. Rajnish then belted out a great full throated Punjabi song which was followed by a hilarious skit by the SSD.
As the audience waited for the highlight of the evening, the children displayed their amazing talents. Mrs Geeta Lakshman and Mrs. Srilakshmi Sriram jointly sang a number. Anil, formerly of stores and presently of accounts, then set the stage upon fire with his remarkable solo dance performance. There was also a short skit by Saiteja and Sridhar. Then as the fashion show, Rock with Prop participants got ready, Hanumanth Rao lead a round of tambola interspersed with jokes.

The children then walked the ramp and they exuded so much cuteness as parents watched proudly from the audience. Then it was the turn of the handsome men and pretty women of Sathguru to strut their stuff. All of them wowed the audience making it difficult for the judges to come to a decision. The title of Mr. Sathguru went to Bhanu Prakash and giving him company were Praveen M and Krishna as the 1st Runner up and 2nd Runner up respectively. Ajay won the coveted title of Mr. Stylish and Praveen D stole the show by winning the title of Mr. Physique. Mr. Dashing & Handsome, one of the much awaited titles was conferred to Chirag Jain. Suresh D who marveled everyone with a fake cobra on the stage won the title of Mr. Confident. Why should men have all the fun? Giving the men tough competition in terms of style and panache were the women folks of Sathguru. Sujana who wowed the audience with her stylish cat walk won the Miss Sathguru title. With great applause from the audience, Srishti and Mousumi won the titles of 1st Runner up and 2nd Runner up. Miss Stylish award was given to the equally stylish Arshiya and Saraswathi , the surprise package won the Miss Confident title. Manisha won the Miss Personality award for her fashion sense displayed on the ramp. Mousumi won yet another title, Miss Bold and Beautiful for her stylish moves and effective use of props.
The evening ended with Mr. Vijayaraghavan addressing the audience. He highlighted the major achievements of Sathguru during the year and congratulated all involved on a job well done. He also encouraged and inspired everyone to continue to excel in their work. Awards were then given out to some of lead performers during the year. Ashok Jha won the Excellence in Client Engagement Award and Prabir Mishra for Excellence in networking Award. Arshiya and Jagadeesh were both recognized for their excellence in delivering their best in new environments. While P Suresh won the laurel of the Best New Initiative Award, P. Satish won the coveted Best Client Support Award. The efforts of the Corporate Communications team were recognized by presenting the Best Team Award to Susheel, Srujana and Supriya. Prabhu Ram won accolades for his efforts for Sankalp, the voluntary social service wing of Sathguru. Ajay was recognized as the highest scorer in employee activities.
This marked the close of the events but the gaiety continued through dinner. Finally at 9:30 everyone boarded the busses for home, tired after a full day of fun and frolic, but happy. It was a good…no a great day for all.
